Professional Learning Teams

A Professional Learning Team (PLT) demonstrates the following characteristics:

  • Shared vision and values
  • Shared leadership
  • Collaborative culture
  • Collective inquiry
  • Data driven
  • Focused on results
Professional Learning Teams meet every Monday after school and are focused around “Kid Talk” which is a discussion of the students on the team who need extra assistance/and or enrichment. Data is shared and analyzed so that strategies can be implemented to assist these targeted students. Specialist members from ESL, Title 1, Special Programs and Intervention are included in the discussions to provide additional assistance.

During subsequent PLT meetings, progress monitoring data and other assessment data is shared to determine the effectiveness of these strategies. Analysis of data is continuous and drives classroom instruction.

PLT teams also discuss the following topics throughout the year:

  • Identify both short and long term Essential Learning Goals
  • Differentiation strategies for all students
  • Grade level assessment data including Running Records, AIMSweb, K-2 Quarterly Math Assessments, 3-5 Formative Assessments in Reading and Math
  • Team Time
